Preparations for getting up

This chapter shows how to strengthen the trunk muscles, so that patients are well prepared for standing up later.

Trunk activity is the basis for getting up and should be started early. The patient sits on a daybed or on an armchair.

Exercise 1 – Trunk mobilization in a seated position

Exercise 2 – Trunk training: weight on hand

Exercise 3 – Trunk training: tilting the upper body forward

Exercise 4 – Sliding on the bed to change position
